This month’s sunset salute is dedicated to Jim Brown.
Born in the crucible of a segregated America, Jim Brown rose above the barriers imposed by a society mired in prejudice and discrimination. He blazed a trail on the football field, setting records and captivating audiences with his electrifying performances. But Jim’s impact extended far beyond the realm of sports. His activism embodied the principles of nonviolence, empathy, and unity.
He believed in the power of peaceful protest and the transformative potential of dialogue. Through his founding of the Negro Industrial Economic Union and his work with organizations like the Civil Rights Movement, he helped uplift communities, empower individuals, and pave the way for a more equitable future. He challenged us to confront our prejudices, to embrace empathy, and to stand up against injustice wherever it may be found. Rest in Power.
