From helping to maintain footpaths in the outstanding natural beauty of Historic Virginia Key Beach Park to volunteering with children and young people, there’s something for everyone.
It doesn’t matter how much time you can spare, we would love to hear from any budding volunteers. Take a look at the list of opportunities and get in touch if anything sparks your interest.
The Arts and Culture Division offers a diverse array of programs which enable us to provide numerous volunteer opportunities. Whether it’s giving a tour, maintaining the grounds at one of the facilities or raising money for the museum, the reward comes in knowing you are enriching someone else’s life and the community in which you reside. The Arts and Culture Division welcomes you as volunteers!
To volunteer at a beach clean, all you need to do is find an event and sign up to attend OR create your own! The beach is a regular spot for South Floridians, and we encourage the community to participate in being environmentally conscious.
What to expect on the day:
•Wear suitable clothing and footwear – wrap up warm as the wind on the beach can make it chilly. Don’t forget the sun cream and a bottle of water!
•If you have them, bring strong gloves – like gardening gloves.
•All under 18 must be supervised by a parent or guardian. You will be asked to sign a parental consent form by the organiser.
•The organiser will give you a safety briefing and tell you how to go about collecting and recording the litter.
Most importantly – Have fun!
We need help in protecting and restoring rare native habitats by removing exotic vegetation, enhancing trails, restoring native vegetation, and conducting clean-up activities throughout the beach.
If interested in participating in any of these activities, you can call our office for additional details at 305 960 4600.
