April Feature in Biscayne Times: Perception vs Portrayal
Trinidadian artist Johanne Rahaman’s BlackFlorida project documents the often-overlooked Black communities of Florida. Through photography, audio recordings, and video, Rahaman captures the essence of these places and their people. Her work aims to challenge the stereotypical image of Florida and showcase the vibrant Black culture that has always been a part of the state’s history.
