HVKBP Teams Up with Fairchild Tropical Garden

Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden staff and volunteers participated in a workday outing at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park. They focused on removing invasive and native plants that were threatening the endangered Beach Jacquemontia species. The HVKBP education team joined in the effort and discussed volunteer opportunities to maintain the federally protected habitat.

 The Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden recently enjoyed a workday outing for their staff and volunteers at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park (HVKBP).

They spent the morning removing invasive and native plants that were encroaching on the habitat for the Beach Jacquemontia endangered plant specie, which they had planted around 10 years ago.

HVKBP’s education team also joined in the invasive removal and discussed ways to get volunteers involved to help maintain the federally protected habitat.
