Black History Month w/ HVKBP

Sunset Salute Otis Pitts

The Virginia Key Beach Park Trust honors the late Otis Pitts Jr., a community organizer instrumental in revitalizing Liberty City, Miami. After the 1980 riots, Pitts co-founded the Tacolcy Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) to improve the area's economy. TEDC's efforts led to the development of Edison Plaza, a shopping center, and new housing. Pitts' dedication to his community will be remembered.
