Join HISTORY MIAMI MUSEUM for a conversation about the role of spirituals, gospel, and R&B evolving to soul music played during the Civil Rights era in Miami. Hear personal accounts from Dr. Marvin Dunn and Sam Moore “The Legendary Soul Man.”

Dr. Marvin Dunn is a retired chairman of the Department of Psychology at Florida International University and the author of the book Black Miami in the Twentieth Century.

Sam Moore is a Miami native vocalist who was a member of the soul and R&B group Sam & Dave from 1961 to 1981. He is a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Grammy Hall of Fame (for “Soul Man”), and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame.

The design firm LORD Cultural Resources was also in attendance to hear the views from all stakeholders. Stay tuned for upcoming workshops.

Light refreshments will be available.
