Commissioner Miguel Angel Gabela was elected in November, 2023. He serves as the City of Miami Commissioner for District 1, representing Flagami, Allapattah, and parts of Little Havana.
Miguel Angel Gabela came to the United States from Cuba at the age of 6 in 1970. Like many of you, his family made many sacrifices to come to the United States and build a life here. Early on, Miguel learned to work hard and always put his family first. Miguel and his wife, Mariela, have been married for 36 years and have created a beautiful family together. They are proud parents to Stacy and Caroline and grandparents to Joaquin. Miguel opened his own business 40 years ago and since then has lived and worked in District 1. He volunteered his time to serve on the City of Miami Zoning Board where he defended the individual’s rights and interests, usually in conflict with powerful stakeholders and larger entities. Miguel Angel Gabela looks forward to continue this same attitude as a public servant and keep his campaign promises.

Ralph Rosado

Ralph Rosado is a dedicated public servant and proud Miami native, now serving as the City of Miami Commissioner for District 4, which includes the neighborhoods of Flagami, West Flagler, Little Havana, Coral Gate, Shenandoah, and Silver Bluff. A graduate of Belen Jesuit Preparatory School and Florida International University, he was both educated and shaped by this community. Today, he is raising his three children in the heart of the district he now represents.

Commissioner Rosado brings to office over 25 years of public service spanning city management, planning, and policy. Before his election on June 3, 2025, he served as City Manager of North Bay Village, where he led award-winning planning efforts, including the NBV100 master plan and a $60 million stormwater bond referendum. These initiatives catalyzed over $3 billion in approved investment, increased property values, and helped deliver one of the largest crime reductions in the municipality’s history.

Rosado holds a Ph.D. in City and Regional Planning from the University of Pennsylvania, a Master in Public Affairs and Urban Planning from Princeton University, and a B.A. from FIU. 

Prior to taking office, Rosado was appointed by Commissioner Manolo Reyes to serve on the City of Miami’s Miami Forever Bond Board, where he oversaw progress on $400 million in citywide investments spanning flood prevention, public safety, roadways, parks, and housing—giving him an intimate understanding of the city’s most pressing infrastructure challenges and opportunities.

Commissioner Rosado’s CASA initiative—standing for Connectivity, Accessibility, Safety, and Affordability—guides his work in office. It is a promise to deliver real, tangible improvements that keep families rooted, streets safe, homes attainable, and neighborhoods well-connected and welcoming to all.

Above all, Commissioner Rosado is committed to working hand-in-hand with residents to shape a more livable, equitable, and resilient future for the City of Miami.

Damian Pardo

Commissioner Pardo is a lifelong resident of District 2, having been raised in Coconut Grove and residing in Morningside for the last 24 years. As a community activist for more than 35 years, Commissioner Pardo has advocated for equality, diversity, and inclusion in South Florida and beyond, volunteering in efforts to unite communities, including founding SAVE–Safeguarding American Values for Everyone–in 1993 while serving as a two-term President of the largest AIDS Health Organization, CareResource (formerly known as Health Crisis Network). In 2015, he co-founded 4Ward Miami, which is dedicated to uniting South Florida’s diverse communities, and was one of the producers of the Gay8 “Ocho” Festival. He also served on the Miami Dade Equal Opportunity Board (12 years), the Board of Trustees of the Miami Foundation, the Celia Cruz Foundation, and various national and local non-profit boards. Presently, he serves on the Board of Vizcaya Museum & Gardens.

At the helm of Virginia Key Beach Park Istorik, my focus is on strategic oversight and the revitalization of this landmark site through sharp analytical skills and robust problem-solving capabilities. In my current leadership role, I’m dedicated to preserving the park’s rich heritage while fostering community engagement epi sustainable development.

My tenure as Senior Advisor and Emergency Manager with the City of North Miami Beach allowed me to hone my expertise in emergency management, directly contributing to community safety and resilience. With a track record of effective project management epi operational leadership, my mission is to ensure that our historical treasures and public spaces continue to thrive for generations to come.
