Oceans to Everglades Environmental Initiative
Please join Virginia Key Beach Park Trust, Ocean Conservancy and the Miami Super Bowl Host Committee for the kickoff beach cleanup to launch the Super Bowl 2020 O2E (Oceans to Everglades) Cleanup Series! Ocean Conservancy is supporting the Host Committee’s environmental legacy projects in Miami for the next year. Help us make a difference for our ocean.
The Cleanup
We will be removing trash along Historic Virginia Key Beach Park. All supplies for the cleanup will be provided. Volunteers should wear appropriate clothing to protect themselves from the sun and are also encouraged to bring their own work gloves and refillable water bottle.
~ Event begins at 12:30 pm. Please come before then to enjoy a snack before we kick off the event. Volunteers and/or their guardians will be asked to sign a waiver before taking part in the cleanup activity.
~ Parking is available at the park, but it is limited. We encourage volunteers to carpool and use public transit when possible.
~ Please dress comfortably according to the weather. We suggest wearing a hat for shade, closed-toe shoes or sneakers, and sunscreen. We will have additional sunscreen and bug spray on site.
~ Water will be provided in water coolers. Volunteers should bring their own reusable water bottles and we’ll have paper cups on hand if needed.
~ Gloves and trash bags will be provided; however, feel free to bring your own gardening or work gloves and bucket!
Help us collect trash data! Volunteers are encouraged to be citizen scientists for the morning by downloading our app, Clean Swell, and easily collect data on the debris they find. Download the app in advance and we’ll walk you through the steps at the cleanup!
