Miami a los 5 a\u00f1os. Estudi\u00f3 en Allapattah Elementary School, Westview Middle School y Miami Central Sr. High School. Ha servido con orgullo a la comunidad durante muchos a\u00f1os y es conocida por su pasi\u00f3n por servir. Antes de convertirse en abogada, Christine trabaj\u00f3 como Jefa de Servicios Constituyentes para un Comisionado del Condado de Miami-Dade y m\u00e1s tarde como ejecutiva de la Agencia de Acci\u00f3n Comunitaria (CAA). Su carrera en el condado dur\u00f3 dieciocho a\u00f1os. Ahora es Presidenta y Consejera Delegada de la Martin Luther King Economic Development Corporation y abogada en ejercicio. He serves as the City of Miami Commissioner for District 3. Commissioner Escalona represents District 3 of the City of Miami. District 3 includes Little Havana, East Shenandoah, West Brickell, parts of Silver Bluff, and the Roads.<\/p><div>Born in Havana Cuba , Escalona immigrated to Miami, upon arriving in the United States he began working in the hospitality industry , starting with entry level jobs such as bussing tables. Over time he worked his way into the restaurant management. Escalona was a Manager in a high-end restaurant in miami overseeing more that 130 employees and a budget of well over 30 million dollars. Escalona holds a Degree in International relations and Political science both obtained in FIU. In 2015, he co-founded 4Ward Miami, which is dedicated to uniting South Florida\u2019s diverse communities, and was one of the producers of the Gay8 \u201cOcho\u201d Festival. Meet Our Board of Trustees Christine King Chair Commissioner Christine King was born in Guyana and moved to Miami at the age of 5. She attended Allapattah Elementary School, Westview Middle School, and Miami Central Sr. High School. She has proudly served the community for many years and is known for her passion to serve. Before becoming an attorney, Christine worked as Chief of Constituent Services for a Miami-Dade County Commissioner and later as an executive with the Community Action Agency (CAA). Her career with the county spanned eighteen years. She is now President and CEO of the Martin Luther King Economic Development Corporation and a practicing attorney. Christine is married with three beautiful children. Rolando Escalona Vice Chair Commissioner Rolando Escalona was elected in December 2025. He serves as the City of Miami Commissioner for District 3. Commissioner Escalona represents District 3 of the City of Miami. District 3 includes Little Havana, East Shenandoah, West Brickell, parts of Silver Bluff, and the Roads. Born in Havana Cuba , Escalona immigrated to Miami, upon arriving in the United States he began working in the hospitality industry , starting with entry level jobs such as bussing tables. Over time he worked his way into the restaurant management. Escalona was a Manager in a high-end restaurant in miami overseeing more that 130 employees and a budget of well over 30 million dollars. Escalona holds a Degree in International relations and Political science both obtained in FIU. He currently lives in East Little Havana with his wife Astrid along with his son and daughter.\u00a0 Angel Gabela Trustee Commissioner Miguel Angel Gabela was elected in November, 2023. He serves as the City of Miami Commissioner for District 1, representing Flagami, Allapattah, and parts of Little Havana.Miguel Angel Gabela came to the United States from Cuba at the age of 6 in 1970. Like many of you, his family made many sacrifices to come to the United States and build a life here. Early on, Miguel learned to work hard and always put his family first. Miguel and his wife, Mariela, have been married for 36 years and have created a beautiful family together. They are proud parents to Stacy and Caroline and grandparents to Joaquin. Miguel opened his own business 40 years ago and since then has lived and worked in District 1. He volunteered his time to serve on the City of Miami Zoning Board where he defended the individual\u2019s rights and interests, usually in conflict with powerful stakeholders and larger entities. Miguel Angel Gabela looks forward to continue this same attitude as a public servant and keep his campaign promises. Ralph Rosado Secretary Ralph Rosado is a dedicated public servant and proud Miami native, now serving as the City of Miami Commissioner for District 4, which includes the neighborhoods of Flagami, West Flagler, Little Havana, Coral Gate, Shenandoah, and Silver Bluff. A graduate of Belen Jesuit Preparatory School and Florida International University, he was both educated and shaped by this community. Today, he is raising his three children in the heart of the district he now represents. Commissioner Rosado brings to office over 25 years of public service spanning city management, planning, and policy. Before his election on June 3, 2025, he\u00a0served as\u00a0City Manager\u00a0of North Bay Village, where he led award-winning planning efforts, including the NBV100 master plan and a $60 million stormwater bond referendum. Meet Our Board of Trustees Christine King Chair Commissioner Christine King was born in Guyana and moved to Miami at the age of 5. She attended Allapattah Elementary School, Westview Middle School, and Miami Central Sr. High School. She has proudly served the community for many years and is known for her passion to serve. Before becoming an attorney, Christine worked as Chief of Constituent Services for a Miami-Dade County Commissioner and later as an executive with the Community Action Agency (CAA). Her career with the county spanned eighteen years. She is now President and CEO of the Martin Luther King Economic Development Corporation and a practicing attorney. Christine is married with three beautiful children. Rolando Escalona Vice Chair Commissioner Rolando Escalona was elected in December 2025. He serves as the City of Miami Commissioner for District 3. Commissioner Escalona represents District 3 of the City of Miami. District 3 includes Little Havana, East Shenandoah, West Brickell, parts of Silver Bluff, and the Roads. Born in Havana Cuba , Escalona immigrated to Miami, upon arriving in the United States he began working in the hospitality industry , starting with entry level jobs such as bussing tables. Over time he worked his way into the restaurant management. Escalona was a Manager in a high-end restaurant in miami overseeing more that 130 employees and a budget of well over 30 million dollars. Escalona holds a Degree in International relations and Political science both obtained in FIU. He currently lives in East Little Havana with his wife Astrid along with his son and daughter.\u00a0 Angel Gabela Trustee Commissioner Miguel Angel Gabela was elected in November, 2023. He serves as the City of Miami Commissioner for District 1, representing Flagami, Allapattah, and parts of Little Havana.Miguel Angel Gabela came to the United States from Cuba at the age of 6 in 1970. Like many of you, his family made many sacrifices to come to the United States and build a life here. Early on, Miguel learned to work hard and always put his family first. Miguel and his wife, Mariela, have been married for 36 years and have created a beautiful family together. They are proud parents to Stacy and Caroline and grandparents to Joaquin. Miguel opened his own business 40 years ago and since then has lived and worked in District 1. He volunteered his time to serve on the City of Miami Zoning Board where he defended the individual\u2019s rights and interests, usually in conflict with powerful stakeholders and larger entities.
