Our mission is to carry forward the vision for the development and use of Virginia Key Beach Park, promoting and maintaining absolute public ownership and access, fostering its perpetuation as a passive open green-space that includes nature trails, recreational facilities and museum structures appropriate and compatible with the nature of Virginia Key; preserving it as a valuable resource to be enjoyed for posterity, and to honor the rich historical legacy of the social and civil rights history of South Florida.

 

What to do?

Enjoy the only replenished, mile-long shoreline within the City of Miami. Ride on the closest antique carousel to sparkling blue seas. Take a mini-wetland excursion on the famous ‘Biscayne Virginia Rickenbacker Central’. Revel in stunning, un-obstructive views of the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay. Picnic and mingle under one of our many shaded pavilions. Explore our nature boardwalk and our coastal hammock trails. Savor nostalgic menu items at our Concession Stand.

 

Ecology Guidebook

The Virginia Key Beach Park Trust is committed to the preservation and ongoing maintenance of the barrier island’s natural eco-systems. The unique plant and endangered animal varieties that converge at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park give testament to some of the oldest surviving flora and fauna species in South Florida. Additionally, our guidebook provides all of the information contained within this web site in an easy to print format.
